Types
Type 1 Diabetes
- A chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
- It typically appears in adolescence.
- Common in more than 1 million/year.
Type 2 diabetes
- A chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar (glucose)
- The body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or resists insulin.
- Common in 10 million cases per year
Gestational diabetes
- A form of high blood sugar affecting pregnant women.
- More than 1 million / year.
Genetic/other types
- It occurs due to undergoing steroid medicine/ any pancreatic endocrine disorders.

Normal fasting- 100 mg/dl
After food (2 hrs) - 140 mg/dl (below)
